The short review for this new film, The Menu, would be: what a waste of time, money, and talent. Coulda, woulda, shoulda been better!
The Menu falls flat
Anya Taylor Joy's character is meant to be somewhat of a mystery, a wild card. But I figured out who she was in the first four minutes of the film. The rest of the mystery is easy to decipher as well. The acting is good but nothing spectacular. It felt too run-of-the-mill to be as hyped as it was. What a letdown. Best thing: Hong Chau and her outfit and expressions.
Bottom line: this movie needed punchier editing and more dark comedy. Enough said.
